The WebERA Project Blog is a central location for communication between IPI, the WebERA Research Partner group, and Zak Software.
General discussion about the project will be ongoing, with focused discussion on feature topics introduced approximately every two months. The IPI Team will post feature topics based on the current Myclimatedata site on a regular schedule over the next twelve months. The early topics do not require you to have a lot of data to view and compare, since your PEM2 loggers only recently started collecting data. Please experiment with the features within the topics and review them with your colleagues. In addition, please document the ease of use, information value, effectiveness, and potential appeal to a broad audience of collecting institutions. You may also note any potential time and cost savings to users. All of your thoughts and suggestions are welcome.
Please forward any technical support issues, which require an immediate response, directly to Patti at pafpph@rit.edu (or (585) 475-2843). Patti will make sure that someone will address your issues as soon as possible. Later, these technical issues will be categorized and posted under the Technical Support section on this blog. The Technical Support section can be used as a tool to discover solutions to issues that others or you might have.
We expect the review of feature topics to proceed as follows:
Week 1 and 2:
IPI and Zak Software will review the Feature Topic, prepare a written introduction, and then post it on the blog in order for you, the Research Partner group, to review.
Week 3 to 6:
The Research Partners will have a month to explore and comment on the Feature Topic. During the same time, IPI and Zak Software will implement changes to previously reviewed topics as needed.
Week 7 and 8:
IPI and Zak Software will review the posted comments, decide what to change and how, prepare a written summary and response, and post the response. IPI and Zak Software will then start the cycle again with a new Feature Topic.
We look forward to hearing from you!

To Jackson and anyone else with the same problem:
The WebERA Myclimatedata site isn’t ready for direct upload of data at this time. You can upload your data to the http://www.PEMdata.com site for viewing in the meantime.
I think what Jackson did was to go to the Utilities Page and select “Upload Summary Data” – this currently only works for a new batch of distilled data that is brought into the site using an off-line distillation program. EVENTUALLY – when the data upload function is working on the web, this will be useful to you – but it isn’t yet.
I’m sorry for the confusion – I hope this clears it up. Patti

Hello all,
Workshop —
- Importance of selecting and naming locations of loggers was very clear and workshop thoughtful overall.
- Found the difference between the collection name and the collection type slightly confusing. This may be in part because the MFA collections are organized more by curatorial division (art of europe;art of asia, oceania, africa; musical instruments, etc.) or materials than by name. The pre-defined lists are heavily weighted toward archives and photograph collections. Would like to see more representation of archaeological and ethnographic collections and more predefined information kinds.
Function–
- Decided to place loggers off-site, in main temporary exhibition space, and in art of Asia, Oceania, and Africa galleries and storage areas; representing different areas of building/air handlers, different collection types, and levels of need in terms of communication of information.
- Now at the stage where I’m uploading sample data in PEMdata, then archiving files in ClimateNotebook. When data is available in myclimatedata plan to share with engineering and relevant conservation, curatorial divisions (surprised?)
- Is there a way to add a location to the title of a graph? The logger id displayed as title is only useful when compared to a list of locations.
- Noticed remarkable accuracy of PEM2s!
- I am getting an error message when trying to edit information from the utilities page.
- Explored the possibility of moving materials information from TMS into myclimatedata with MFA database administrator, but found it would be too cumbersome for us because of the very specific way medium has been used. In the process of our discussion we did, however, agree on a field to use in the Sites module to document the availability of environmental information on specific locations.

Hi All,
I am working with Rick Kerschner at the Shelburne Museum and we have recently placed all 20 of our PEM 2s. Yesterday I created command files to attach a location name to each PEM2 and went from building to building uploading that data from a USB drive to the PEMs. When I got back to my computer, I found that although the location name got uploaded to the PEM, none of the temp/RH data got downloaded to the USB. I spoke with Ed Zinn today and he said that you must delete the command files from your USB in order for it to download any temp/RH data from a PEM.
I thought this was interesting and worth sharing with the group. Hope you find it helpful.

Is anyone else getting this error message when attempting to edit data?
